What changes from the city to the suburbs
The equipment is the same. The houses around it aren’t, and that shapes most of the decisions on a repair or a new system.
| Topic | Philadelphia | The Main Line |
|---|---|---|
| Houses | Brick rowhouses and twins, 14 to 18 feet wide, with neighbors on one or both sides. | Detached stone and Victorian houses, twins and singles on narrow lots in towns like Narberth, and estates with several systems. |
| Heating | Gas furnaces and boilers in the basement, many in houses first built for coal. | Boilers with steam or hot-water radiators in the older houses, furnaces and heat pumps in newer ones. |
| Cooling | Condensers on the flat roof or in the rear yard. | Attic air handlers that cool the top floor without opening plaster. |
| Gas and electric | Gas from PGW, electricity from PECO. | Gas and electricity from PECO. |
| Replacing a system | Needs a permit from the city, usually pulled by a contractor licensed in Philadelphia. | Needs a township or borough permit, and most townships also license the contractor. |

Whether you’re in a Manayunk rowhouse or a stone house in Gladwyne, it works the same way. Call us or send a request and we’ll call you back to set a time. Repairs are same-day when we can, new systems are installed the next day and emergencies are answered around the clock. We’re family-owned and have worked out of Bala Cynwyd for more than 15 years.
From customers in the city

SK’s representative came by my home and gave me a thorough walk through of what was needed for a full HVAC replacement. Living in the city my home had some small challenges that SK was able to address without any issues. A quote was provided very promptly and the work for a full install was scheduled in an expedient manner. The installation crew was incredibly professional, respectful, and efficient. They finished the job in a single day. The installation crew went out of their way to protect my floors and minimize disruption to my home. After the installation was complete the crew did a thorough test of the heat and air systems.
SK offered generous, easy financing and made the project easy and affordable.
I hav worked with other, larger HVAC companies in Philadelphia and they all were vastly more expensive and the sales reps were very pushy and tried to sell me other services that I hadn’t solicited.
I highly recommend getting a quote from SK if you’re doing a full system replacement or install.

Saki is hands down, the best HVAC contractor I’ver ever worked with in or out of the city. As local businesses get gobbled up by private equity, it is great to know that Philly has a local company who is fairly priced, does outstanding work and is truly trustworthy.

My plumber recommended SK Heating & Air Conditioning when my gas furnace wouldn’t heat. Saki came out the next day & had it up & running in 30 minutes and at a great price. I own a 3 unit apartment building in Fairmount & I contracted with Saki to perform the maintenance on all 3 apartment’s HVAC systems. Great guy who runs a great business.

FAQs about our service areas
How do I know if SK serves my street?
If you’re in Philadelphia or on the Main Line, we almost certainly do. The places with their own pages are listed above and the nearby towns we also cover are listed below. If yours isn’t there, call (610) 937-5357 and ask.
How quickly can you get to me?
Our shop is on Montgomery Avenue in Bala Cynwyd. Wynnefield and Overbrook are about 5 minutes away, Center City and Fairmount about 15, and Fishtown and South Philadelphia about 20 to 30. Northeast Philadelphia is 30 to 45 minutes out. Most Main Line towns are 5 to 25 minutes away, Paoli and Malvern 35 to 50, and the Delaware County towns 15 to 35. We offer same-day service when we can, and we answer emergencies 24/7.
Is the service the same in the city and the suburbs?
Yes. We offer the same work everywhere we go: heating and air conditioning repair, $54 Seasonal Maintenance and new systems, for all makes and models.
Do you work on Philadelphia rowhouses?
Yes, rowhouses and twins are a big part of our work. Equipment placement is the main difference: on a rowhouse the condenser usually goes on the flat roof or in the rear yard, where it has the air it needs and stays out of the way.
Who supplies gas and electric where I live?
In Philadelphia, gas comes from PGW and electricity from PECO. In the Main Line and Delaware County towns we serve, PECO supplies both. If you smell gas, leave the house first, then call your gas company from outside.
Do I need a permit to replace my heating or air conditioning?
Yes. Pennsylvania requires a permit to replace a heating or cooling system, in the city and in the townships, and most townships also license the contractor. Ask us how it works in your town.
Nearby areas we also serve
We regularly work outside the places above, including these towns. Not sure about yours? Call and ask.
